Rockin’ Johnny Burgin returns to the NCSCC with West Coast guitarist and blues/reggae artist Rusty Zinn for 2 hours of Johnny’s take on classic Chicago, electric blues, his own compositions and cutting Rusty loose on a few numbers.
Rockin’ Johnny has fronted his own band in Chicago for many years, is beloved by blues purists and blues lovers everywhere he performs. Johnny paid his dues early on backing blues greats Sam Lay (Butterfield Blues band), Pinetop Perkins (Muddy Waters Band), Taildragger and others. He has 6 cds out including some on the most prestigious blues label from the 1960s, Delmark.
Rusty Zinn came on the blues scene in the SF Bay Area/Santa Cruz Mountains in the late 1980s. He worked on mandatory blues dues by backing blues greats Snooky Pryor, Jimmy Rogers, Carey Bell and most notably Pinetop Perkins. Rusty has released several blues albums and 2 reggae cds. Reggae is Rusty’s main focus these days though he often can be heard performing with blues greats like Kim Wilson, Mark Hummel and Aki Kumar
